MIME
Abbreviation for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions
Definition
MIME is a standard describing how content such as text, images or business messages is packaged and labelled with its file type. It originates from e-mail and is also used for transfers on the web. The S/MIME extension adds encryption and signatures, for example for the secure exchange of EDI messages.
