The agency behind your seamless data flows

XICTRON combines deep technical knowledge of ERP systems, APIs and middleware with a clear understanding of the business processes behind data flows. From our location in Söhlde near Hildesheim, we develop integration solutions that do not just work technically but measurably improve processes.

XICTRON is an owner-managed digital agency based at Glockruthenallee 16 in 31185 Söhlde, Lower Saxony. We specialize in system integration for online shops and accompany companies from interface analysis to ongoing operations. Since our founding in 2014, we have successfully completed over 50+ integration projects and developed a deep understanding of the challenges that arise at the intersection of e-commerce and inventory management.

Our philosophy: Technology serving business processes

In system integration, success is not determined by the most elegant architecture, but by whether the interface works reliably in daily operations. An SAP connection that does not lose data under load. A DATEV interface that correctly assigns accounts even for complex tax cases. A middleware that automatically recovers from temporary system outages. These are the criteria by which we measure our work.

We believe that sustainable integration solutions are built on solid engineering. That is why we continuously invest in expertise on the ERP systems we connect, the shop platforms we integrate and the architecture patterns that remain maintainable and extensible long-term. At the same time, we never lose sight of the bigger picture: every technical decision is made in the context of our clients' business requirements and goals.

Every project begins with thorough requirements analysis. We listen, ask uncomfortable questions and jointly develop a solution that fits your real business processes. We do not shy away from critically questioning requirements: not every desired interface delivers measurable business value, and sometimes the best solution lies in simplifying existing data flows rather than automating them. This principle has carried us for over a decade and is why the majority of our clients trust us long-term.

Technology expertise in detail

Our team combines deep knowledge in the technologies critical for modern system integration. We are not generalists who read into many topics, but specialists who know their core areas from daily project work.

ERP Systems

SAP Business One (Service Layer, DI API), SAP S/4HANA (OData, RFC/BAPI), Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (REST, OData, AL extensions). We know the data models, quirks and performance characteristics of these systems firsthand.

API Technologies

REST API design following OpenAPI standard, GraphQL schema design, OAuth 2.0 and JWT authentication, API gateway configuration. Every API is designed and documented for the specific project requirements.

Messaging and Middleware

RabbitMQ (routing topologies, clustering, shovel), Redis Streams, event-driven architecture patterns, CQRS and event sourcing. We select the right messaging pattern for each integration scenario.

Development and DevOps

Node.js, TypeScript, PHP. Docker, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code. Automated testing with Jest, PHPUnit and Cypress. Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.

Security and Compliance

GDPR-compliant data processing, GoBD archiving, TLS encryption for all data flows, IP whitelisting and role-based access control at interface level.

DATEV and Accounting

DATEV Unternehmen Online, DATEV Rechnungswesen, DATEV interface specification, GoBD procedural documentation. Rule-based account assignment for complex tax scenarios.

Our working methodology in daily projects

Every integration project follows a defined process that has proven itself over the years. System analysis comes first: in workshops with your departments, we capture the existing system landscape, data flows and pain points in detail. This produces an integration blueprint that serves as the binding basis for implementation.

During development, we work in two-week iterations. After each iteration, you receive a working integration on our staging environment that you can test and comment on. This feedback flows directly into the next iteration. Before go-live, we conduct comprehensive integration and load tests to ensure the interfaces work reliably under realistic conditions.

Values that shape our work

Transparency

We communicate openly about progress, risks and challenges. Weekly status updates, shared project boards and regular reviews ensure you always know the current status and can make corrections.

Results Orientation

We measure a project's success not by lines of code written but by business impact: reduced manual effort, eliminated error sources, accelerated processes and satisfied users.

Long-term Thinking

Every architectural decision is made with long-term maintainability in mind. We do not build quick fixes that become problems in six months, but sustainable solutions that grow with your business.

Our location in Lower Saxony

Our office is located in Söhlde in the Hildesheim district, Lower Saxony. Collaboration with our clients is primarily remote: workshops via video conference, shared project boards and staging environments enable close collaboration regardless of location. For kick-off workshops and important milestones, in-person meetings are possible, either at your location or in our office.

Although we work nationwide and internationally, many clients appreciate the personal accessibility: a call to +49 5123 9579000 or an email to mail@shop-integration.de is all it takes to schedule an appointment. Learn more about our project approach and competence areas on the References page. If you would like to meet us personally, get in touch.

How we manage projects: Agile principles for integration projects

We work according to agile principles adapted to the reality of integration projects. Rigid Scrum frameworks rarely fit one-to-one with client projects that have fixed budgets and clear milestone expectations. Therefore, we combine the strengths of different methods: the iterative development and short feedback cycles from Scrum, the visual transparency and flow optimization from Kanban, and the contractual planning security that our clients rightly expect.

Concretely, this means: two-week sprints with fixed deliverables, a shared project board with real-time insight into progress, weekly status updates and regular reviews where we demonstrate working intermediate results. At the end of each iteration is a tested, documented increment that can be validated on the staging environment. Changes to requirements are possible and welcome but are managed through a structured change request process so budget and timeline remain transparent.

Quality assurance as an integral part of every project

Quality is not created at the end of a project through manual tests but integrated into the development process from the start. Our quality assurance begins with code review: every change is reviewed by a second developer before being incorporated into the codebase. Automated tests cover critical business logic: data transformations, account assignment rules, error handling and API endpoints are automatically checked with every code change.

Before each deployment, the application passes through our staging environment that mirrors production. Integration tests with realistic data volumes are conducted there: are product data correctly synchronized from the ERP? Does DATEV account assignment work for international tax scenarios? Does the message queue hold up under 10,000 simultaneous messages? Additionally, we conduct load tests before go-live to ensure the infrastructure remains stable even under peak load.

Our contribution to knowledge retention in your organization

Integration knowledge must not be locked in a black box accessible only to the agency. That is why we place great emphasis on comprehensive documentation and knowledge transfer. Every project delivers complete interface documentation: API specifications, mapping matrices, architecture diagrams and operations handbooks. Runbooks describe procedures for typical error scenarios. And when needed, we train your internal IT team in operating the monitoring dashboard and analyzing error logs.

This investment in documentation and knowledge transfer has clear business value: it reduces dependency on individual people and ensures your integration can be professionally maintained even when contacts change. At the same time, good documentation accelerates onboarding of new team members and significantly shortens diagnosis time for problems.

Our Technical Standards

Integration work is precision work. The connection between shop and ERP must function reliably under all conditions: at normal load and during peaks, for regular orders and special cases like partial deliveries, returns or cancellations, with stable network connectivity and during temporary outages. Our technical standard is to develop interfaces that cover all these scenarios without requiring manual intervention. Automated tests, comprehensive monitoring and documented emergency processes ensure that your integration not only works but remains maintainable and evolvable long-term.

Every project begins with a thorough requirements analysis where we work through data flows, business rules and error scenarios together with your team. This produces an integration specification that serves as the binding foundation for development. We document not only the technical implementation but also the business decisions behind it: why was this mapping chosen? How are conflicts resolved? What happens during a system outage? This documentation is your knowledge capital and ensures that the integration can be understood and further developed even after personnel changes on either side.

Collaboration and Communication

Integration projects typically involve multiple teams: your IT department, ERP consulting, the shop team and potentially additional service providers. In these constellations, we take on technical coordination and ensure all participants have the same information level. Two-week sprints with defined deliverables and reviews create transparency about progress. Every decision is documented and communicated. This structured approach reduces misunderstandings and keeps the project on track, even when many stakeholders with different priorities are involved.

Our office in Söhlde near Hildesheim enables personal meetings in the Hanover-Hildesheim region. For clients outside Lower Saxony, we work fully remotely with video conferences, shared project boards and structured status reports. Collaboration quality does not depend on location but on clear processes, honest communication and a team that understands the complexity of your system landscape.

Why Clients Work With Us Long-Term

97 percent (project experience) of our clients renew their contracts. This rate reflects our standard: we do not build integrations as one-time projects but as long-term partnerships. After go-live, we support you with proactive monitoring, timely adaptation to system updates and quarterly reviews that identify optimization potential. Our clients value this continuity because they know their integration partner knows their system landscape in detail and can act immediately when new requirements arise.

Our Approach to Integration Projects

Integration projects rarely fail because of technology but because of unclear requirements, poor communication or missing error handling. Our project approach addresses these risks systematically: structured requirements workshops before the first code, defined testing phases with realistic data volumes, complete documentation of all architecture decisions and transparent communication about project status. This approach has proven itself in over 50 integration projects and is the reason our projects are completed on time and on budget.

Technology and Expertise

On the shop side, Shopware Community Edition is our core expertise: we know the API architecture, event system, plugin development and performance optimization in detail. On the ERP side, we master integration with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, DATEV and industry-specific systems. For the connection layer, we use REST APIs, message queues and where needed dedicated middleware layers. This technological breadth enables us to choose the optimal architecture for every constellation rather than accepting compromises that lead to long-term technical debt.

We combine this technological depth with cross-industry experience: wholesale, manufacturing, technical trade, e-commerce and service companies. In each of these industries, we understand the specific business processes and typical integration requirements. This industry-specific knowledge accelerates requirements analysis and reduces the risk of misdevelopment because we already know the common pitfalls and account for them in the architecture.
