Code page
In short and in plain language
A code page is an old table of letters and signs for computers.
It does not have room for all letters. So letters from some languages are missing.
Such letters are then replaced or shown in the wrong way.
Definition
A code page is an older character table that assigns specific characters to byte values. Because it holds only part of the world's characters, letters from other languages are missing depending on the code page. When exchanging data with Unicode systems, such characters are then replaced or shown incorrectly.
